The
Academy
awards
this
international
prize to
encourage
young
scholars
who have
produced
creative
and
innovative
research
and
outstanding
academic
work in
any
specialisation
related
to
Islamic
Jerusalem
Studies.
The
winner
of the
Prize
receives
a
certificate
and a
cash
prize.
In
addition
the last
three
winners
were
invited
to
present
a paper
at the
international
academic
conference
on
Islamic
Jerusalem
Studies.

PRIZE 1997 |

In 1997
ISRA
decided
to
present
the first
Prize
together
with
certificate
and a
cash
prize to
a young
Scholar
on the
field of
Islamic
Jerusalem.
he
Prize
Committee
of the
Academy
decided
to award
the 1997
Islamicjerusalem
Prize
for
Young
Scholars
to Dr. Muhsin
Saleh
-assistant
professor
at the
International
Islamic
University
in
Malaysia-,
for his
book "The
Road to
Jerusalem":
A
Historical
Study of
the
Islamic
experience
in
Palestine,
from the
times of
the
Prophets
to the
end of
the
twentieth
century.
This
book was
published
in 1995.

PRIZE 1999 |

|
In 1998
the
Prize
Committee
decided
to
hold
back the
prize
for 1998
as the
publications
submitted
did not
reach
the
academic
criteria.
Moreover
in 1999 the
Management
Committee
decided
that the
prize
went to:
Mr. Haithem
al-Ratrout
-one of
the
winners
of the
PhD
Scholarships
the
academy'
offers-,
for his
Master
thesis "a
New
Theory
to
Explain
the
Architectural
Design
and
Planning
of the
Dome of
the Rock".
It was
later
published
by
ISRA
in 2002.

a
Critical
Analytical
Study of
the
Early
Islamic
Historical
Narratives
and
Sources",
published
in 2003
by the
Al-Maktoum
Institute
Academic
Press.
